The Studio at 20

The Studio at 20

In 1996, The Corning Museum of Glass opened The Studio as a place for artists and students to learn about glassmaking and to create their work. Over the past 20 years, The Studio has become an internationally renowned facility for glassmaking and a creative center for artists who work in glass with an extensive selection of workshops and intensive courses, taught by leading international artists, offered year round to students of all experience levels. Artist Residencies, live-streamed demos, artist lectures, and affordable hot shop rentals are among the many resources available at The Studio today.

As The Studio turns 20, we’ll be celebrating along with you, the community of artists who have made it all possible through your passion and support. Join us as we take a look back: submit your memories, quotes, photos, or video to be included in The Studio at 20 digital scrapbook; see works by artists who have taught or have been residents at The Studio in a special exhibition; join in on the celebrations here in Corning this May; make a special glassmaking project commemorating the anniversary; hear from artists who have worked at The Studio on the blog; and much more.

It’s been an incredible 20 years. We hope you enjoy this look back at all that’s happened, and we look forward to another 20+ years of great fun, friends and glass at The Studio!

Share your Studio Memory!

Can you still hear your favorite instructor’s voice in your head as you work? Do you always think back to a certain glassmaking trick you learned from one of the pros here at The Studio? Did you take a class photo back in the ‘90s? Or maybe you have a video clip from action in the hot shop? We bet you’re not alone! Plus, is there any better way to celebrate 20 years than by taking a look back at some of The Studio’s best memories? No way, that's why we’re asking you to share your Studio memories, photos, quotes, and videos with us as we celebrate The Studio’s birthday on May 26, 2016. Submissions may be displayed in a digital scrapbook in the exhibition The Studio at 20 and online.
